Navratri Day 2 – Brahmacharini

Navratri – the nine days festival of celebrating and praying nine forms of feminine energy. The festival is celebrated in Bharat (India) twice a year. Goddess Parvati, Durga manifested herself into nine different forms representing the nine power sources. Worshipping Devi Durga in the form of nav durga for the nine days blesses devotees with spiritual and material things, siddhis, powers, joy and much more.

Goddess of the Navratri day two : Brahmacharini ब्रह्मचारिणी.

Second day of navratri is the day of Goddess Brahmacharini. Brahmacharini is the incarnation of Goddess who did great penance. In sanskrit Brahm is the ‘ultimate reality’ and Charini is ‘to follow, behave’. thus Brahmacharini means the one who follows the path towards the parabrahman, the absolute one. The fruit of her hard austerities is the “Shiva”, she got married to him. She bore all the seasons to extreme but never left the penance. She followed strict fasting, firstly she was on fruits and roots then she continued without food and water also.

Goddess Brahmacharini is depicted as walking by bare feet. She carries Jaap Mala in the right hand and Kamandal in the left hand. She is in the form of tapasvini.

Governing Planet : Mars

Mars is the sign of courage. And for sadhana one needs that. The mantra chanting of Devi Brahmacharini removes bad effects of mars if one has in his/her horoscope. And she bless devotees with boons.

Chakra Associated : Swadhisthana, Sacral Chakra, स्वाधिष्ठान

The sadhana and worship of devi Brahmacharini activates the sacral chakra. It the the chakra of creation, and pleasure. a place from where thoughts arises.

गौरवर्णा स्वाधिष्ठानस्थिता द्वितीय दुर्गा त्रिनेत्राम्।
धवल परिधाना ब्रह्मरूपा पुष्पालङ्कार भूषिताम्॥
परम वन्दना पल्लवाधरां कान्त कपोला पीन।
पयोधराम् कमनीया लावणयं स्मेरमुखी निम्ननाभि नितम्बनीम्॥

त्रिपुरा में हृदयम् पातु ललाटे पातु शङ्करभामिनी।

जय अम्बे ब्रह्मचारिणी माता। जय चतुरानन प्रिय सुख दाता॥
ब्रह्मा जी के मन भाती हो। ज्ञान सभी को सिखलाती हो॥
ब्रह्म मन्त्र है जाप तुम्हारा। जिसको जपे सरल संसारा॥
जय गायत्री वेद की माता। जो जन जिस दिन तुम्हें ध्याता॥
कमी कोई रहने ना पाए। उसकी विरति रहे ठिकाने॥
जो तेरी महिमा को जाने। रद्रक्षा की माला ले कर॥
जपे जो मन्त्र श्रद्धा दे कर। आलस छोड़ करे गुणगाना॥
माँ तुम उसको सुख पहुँचाना। ब्रह्मचारिणी तेरो नाम॥
पूर्ण करो सब मेरे काम। भक्त तेरे चरणों का पुजारी॥
रखना लाज मेरी महतारी।
